Nightly gives travelers the benefit of combining hotels for their trip to save money, enjoy upgrades, and experience more. Considering a single switch at time of booking can unlock substantial savings and extra benefits. Make each night count!

In collaboration with Nightly’s founders, we defined the core user journey for the service from a mobile-first approach. Nightly Travel offers affordable luxury hotels and helps save you money by combing hotels during your trip. It’s important that users who are searching for hotels to book on the website understand the itinerary and services that make Nightly unique.

Our core user is defined as “the budgeter” whether on business or a couple on a luxury trip. The budgeter is looking to find the best deal to stay at a hotel for their trip and has discovered Nightly. Presented with the search form, similar to most booking sites, they enter their query for location, duration of trip, and room count for the stay.


After the search process is complete the user views the results list for hotels they like within their budget, filter through to suit their needs, and notices that some results are a combination of two hotels at cheaper, discounted prices.


The challenges here are to clearly communicate how the price is cheaper, how it works, and how they can benefit from this unique offer.

Ultimately, we wanted to build out the foundations of Nightly from a mobile-first design approach. To help us achieve this, I began by creating a fully functional prototype in SketchApp based on wireframes provided by the UX team and both founders. Together we were working collaboratively in InVision, allowing us to easily manage work, centralise conversations, and use Lookback for user tests.


My main responsibilities were to deliver on UX and UI design, brand direction, collaborative process, and introduction to tools.
